Hyliion’s suspension system hybridizes the trailer portion of a tractor-trailer combination, uses regenerative braking to capture power when the trailer is slowing down, and reuses it to help power the trailer up hills and improve fuel savings. The suspension system is estimated to save 3,000 gallons of fuel used annually idling at rest stops and removes the CO2 emissions equivalent of 13 cars.
